My friends and clients are often surprised by my position about marathons when I say that preparing for the distance makes us healthier, but the actual marathon run can be dangerous for our health.
Are you investing in your Fitness Retirement?I am sure we all agree that Income Planning for your retirement and protecting your “nest egg” is of paramount importance.
Now let's assume that you already have a smart plan to save money and secure your years of retirement. One beautiful morning you wake up knowing that you don't need to hurry for meetings or work... You have retired! You stretch in bed enjoying for a few minutes all the great things you can do and enthusiastically swing your legs out of the bed... Oh shoot, not that back pain again! What is happening with my knees, and that headache!? I'll tell you what's happening… It turns out while you have been working hard towards your retirement, all those long hours of sitting at the office, the stress, the mountains of cold sandwiches and hundreds of missed workouts... They have all been waiting for this morning, growing big sharp teeth with one goal: to bite your retired butt that morning! And they will bite and keep biting while you’re on the phone canceling your golf tee time and later waiting on hold to schedule your doctor's appointment, realizing for the first time that you have successfully retired financially, but your health and fitness are bankrupt… If you think this is something that won't happen to you then you're luckier than most of us and can stop reading now! Odds are you're not so lucky... Of course it shouldn't be like this! We all deserve to spend our retirement doing what we've been dreaming and hoping for. What if I tell you that it is not only possible, but most of all, relatively easy! The only "catch" is you need to start "investing" in your fitness as soon as possible! The same way that it's paramount to start investing early in life to give compounding interest time to work for you, you need to give your fitness plan time as well. Your most important "budget" today is your time - everyone demands a piece of it: your wife and kids, your boss, your friends, parents... the list can go on and on... There will never be a "perfect moment" to start investing in your retirement fitness. And yes, even if you are going to the gym every day you still might not be doing it properly! Now, imagine a fitness plan that uses the same approach you have been employing to help you retire. I am not talking six pack abs here! I am talking about that smart minimum of exercises and activities that you can invest in your good health and longevity every day. 401 Fitness® is a holistic program that Want2goFit has developed to help you achieve your Fitness Retirement goals. With 401 Fitness we will help you stay healthy and independent years after you retire so you can enjoy your savings for travel or golf, NOT for hospitals! What is our holistic approach to 401 Fitness. We start by getting to know you and your Fitness Retirement Goals. This crucial step guides the designing of your personal 401 Fitness Plan. We wont just give you another list of exercises to do on your own! Instead we will introduce you to a variety of holistic activities (body weight exercises, swimming, yoga, tai chi, meditation.. just to name a few) to support your physical autonomy and develop skills that will help you enjoy sport and social activities years after your retirement. An important part of our plan is to help you recover from old injuries and prevent new ones. By developing your physical autonomy around your body limitations we will lay out a foundation for injury free lifestyle. If you are still reading chances are that you already know that you need this! Don't let the busy every day life get in the way! Contact me now and lets talk about how to get you prepared for your Fitness Retirement! We have plans to match every budget, schedule and goals. Still have excuses? Would love to hear them! We have all seen the ads for 20 min a day workouts to get your "sixpack." The sixpack has
become the ultimate fitness goal, the synonym of sex appeal and happiness! With sacrifice and motivation, nearly everyone can achieve a "sixpack". But, will cut abs deliver lasting happiness? If you sweat your way to a "sixpack" by next Valentine's Day, will it bring you love? Sorry. The answer is a big fat NO. I once had a "sixpack" for about a year or two, and I can tell you that it doesn't bring lasting joy and it doesn't even do much to improve your sex appeal. So my Valentine's Day message to you is that sex appeal has absolutely nothing to do with cut abs. And thank goodness for that:) Having sex appeal just means people want to get next to you that you're exuding a magnetism that's unseen yet irresistible. It's not about a flat stomach, let alone a cut one! We're so much more than our bodies. Our true essence the one that radiates and attracts people to us cannot be seen. Yes, people often begin romantic relationships based on physical attraction. But when it comes to finding true love 90 percent of the relationships are built around mutual values, intellectual appeal and tenderness. Unconditional, lasting love is when we can cherish someone else and feel cherished ourselves despite imperfections like beer bellies and muffin tops. So, for Valentine's Day, I say: Take care of yourself and the one you love, not with extreme restrictions, but with moderation and TLC even if it means making peace with your love handles:) Love promotes health, no matter what shape you're in. Frequent sex, snuggling, hugging and kissing are good for us and may even improve longevity. And in the end, “good love” and “good looking” aren't about how someone looks but how someone is. When you come to that realization, that's when you know you're cooking on all four burners, baby! Forget about the sixpack! But do continue to work out, stay active, eat meaningfully and celebrate life together. Happy Valentine's Day! Swimming has always been a natural relaxation for me. A recent conversation with Pamela Quinn made me aware that I might actually be in meditation stage while swimming. I have all the effects of it: disconnect, calm and clear mind, ideas and solutions coming naturally, loosing track of time, happy gratefulness feeling that "everything will be OK", and more... So this morning jumping in the pool I set my mind to disconnect from my technique, and just observe all the thoughts that might come to me... WOW... Not only that I didn't realise how 30 minutes of swimming passed, but as you can see from my Garmin Vivoactive screenshot my SWOLF was 25 which is my personal record this year. This number represents the SUM of the strokes you make and the time to swim 25 yards ( in my case). I wonder if anybody else has been trying or experiencing similar effects. Will keep experimenting on that. What an amazing feeling afterwards... Have a great Tuesday! I have noticed that every 2 - 3 years my life tends to take turns and even though I keep moving in the same direction I know that challenges always follow these changes. What amazes me and keeps me positive and moving forward is that even if I feel scared and insecure at those moments of change (yes - that's also me - the tough guy:)), at the end everything turns out to have been for better. Returning the key from our studio today I felt a little sad remembering all the good times, and the challenges that we went through. What a great run we had! I am so grateful for all the new friends, partners and clients I have met, and all the lessons I have learned for the last two years as a co-owner at Yoga Fit Boutique. I can't thank enough for all the help and support my friends and family gave me during these amazing two years. I couldn’t make it without you guys! The studio was my second home for two years, and I hope all of you that came for a class or drinks:) felt cozy and welcomed every time! Yoga Fit Boutique had the tough task to be a trailblazer for our brand new client oriented concept - small size boutique classes that allow a better teacher to student interaction. Closing this chapter I am so excited about my new projects and adventures, and I can’t wait to share some of them very soon here! Namaste my friends! |
