Why Thanksgiving is my Favorite American Holiday

11/25/2016

As a naturalized American I had a first hand experience receiving priceless help and support in our first days in this country. I don’t think that words will ever fully express my gratitude to my family, friends and all the other people I met along the way that helped me make this place a home.

I will always remember how miserable I felt my first years. Missing my friends, my Black Sea, and my family back in Bulgaria was hard enough already, but I also had to prove all over again that I am the good, well known person, that I had already established myself as in my country. Every job I took, every hand I shook, were little bricks of opportunity I set in place in order to rebuild myself again.

It was like when you press RESET on your device and go back to the preinstalled features only. You know how frustrating it is to redo all the settings and install whatever you need all over again. But this “magic” process also provides you the opportunity to change the settings that didn’t work before, to improve performance, and even fix things that you didn’t know you did wrong the first time…

It is because of this ongoing process and the opportunity to rediscover and rebuild myself that I am so grateful and thankful this Thanksgiving Day.

I am always grateful for every opportunity to be with my family and close friends, to look back and appreciate all accomplishments, new friendships, and experiences we lived through.

Thank You and Have A Great Thanksgiving
